600k brevet from Chillicothe, Ohio

Host hotel: America's Best Value Inn.  Might need to give them a call.  America's Best Value Inn - Chillicothe

Route and configurable cuesheet linked above.  A successful pre-ride by Andrew makes these final!

Some course modifications were made after the 400k, primarily to avoid rutted roads and eliminate some info controls. This reduced the distance and climbing of day 1, and brings the total distance to exactly 600k. Day 1 remains challenging with many significant climbs, followed by a very flat and wooded day 2.

Details

Friday:
For those in Chillicothe Friday night, head over to Old Capitol Brewing for pre-ride hang-out and beers.  Bring your choice of carryout from your choice of establishment, as they don't have food at the brewery!  Targeting 7pm, but at least I am a bit non-committal as to my actual arrival time.

https://www.oldcapitolbrewing.com/

We learned that you can order from Gustavo's International Cuisine and they'll deliver righto to you in the brewery.

Saturday:
04:00 - 04:45 check-in and bike check
04:45 - safety brief
05:00 - departure

We will have a volunteer on course and a hotel room available Saturday night for those that don’t have one. The route and cue posted to the website are now final.

Sunday:
Post ride gathering likely.  Brewery closes at 8pm and there may be other options.

Group chat: keep an eye for an email when route is finalized after a pre-ride.  It will include info for a group chat for use along the ride.

Registered riders: be sure your email is configured to allow messages from OhioRandonneurs <OhioRandonneurs@mg.ridestats.bike>.  This is the address for messages generated through this system.

Really tough route only made possible by mild weather. Even the leg to Xenia was hard, with a slow trail and headwind on the return. The bike path out of Chillocothe appears to be unmaintained and is in bad shape. Maybe it should be avoided until it is improved. I really appreciate all the route improvements done since the 400k. That, and the weather, made the first day excellent! Photos coming in a couple days…

The Chillicothe-Jackson-Bainbridge section is far more tolerable with the better weather!
